Friday 3 October 2025 Grandparent's Day It was really lovely welcoming our pupils' grandparents into school for our PSA's ‘Watling View Grandparent's Day'.

Thursday 25 September 2025 MacMillan Coffee Morning We held our MacMillan Coffee Morning in the school hall, where some of our Upper School pupils enjoyed serving cakes to their peers.

Monday 7 July 2025 Celebration Days 2025 It was lovely to be joined by parents and carers to celebrate our pupil's achievements throughout the year. Each child was presented with their own certificate and medal!

Thursday 3 July 2025 Leavers Ceremony On Thursday 3rd July, we celebrated our leavers Fatimah & Bobby.

Tuesday 1 July 2025 Lower/Middle School Sleepover Some of our Year 6-Year 9 students had a blast having a 'sleepover party' at school.

Thursday 26 June 2025 Ice cream van visit Students absolutely loved today's special visit from the ice cream van and being able to choose themselves something yummy! A big thank you to the PSA for funding this.

Tuesday 24 June 2025 Electric Umbrella's 'Shine A Light' Event Some students from every class were invited to attend Electric Umbrella's 'Shine a Light' concert at St Albans Cathedral. The students enjoyed a picnic in the park, before joining in with the concert - singing and dancing! It was great to share the space with so many other schools, we had a blast!

Tuesday 24 June 2025 Pizza Making Experience Poppies and Dandelions classes had a fantastic time at Pizza Express, where they had fun making their own pizzas!

Monday 23 June 2025 'Watling View Does Glastonbury' Week Watling View had the best time celebrating 'Glastonbury Week'!

Friday 20 June 2025 'Read With Me' Sessions We welcomed families and carers to our library 'Read With Me' sessions over the past two weeks. It was great to demonstrate our exciting library and show how we promote reading in a variety of ways.

Wednesday 18 June 2025 Woburn Safari Park Trip We all had an amazing day during our whole school trip to Woburn Safari Park. Pupils enjoyed seeing all the different animals & especially watching the sealion show & parrot training demonstration. They also enjoyed having a go on the large slide, along with taking a trip on the safari train!

Wednesday 11 June 2025 Ofsted Inspection Following our recent visit from Ofsted, we are pleased to share our inspection report.

Thursday 15 May 2025 Sports Morning On Thursday 15th May, we had our Sports Morning. All the students took part in a round robin of different activities with their classes, which included bubble and water balloon station, basketball, boccia skills, yoga and wheelbarrow races. They had a fabulous day, enjoying learning new skills and working as a team. It was lovely to see so many family and friends supporting the event.

Wednesday 14 May 2025 Golf Festival A group of our Upper School students went to a Golf Festival at Woburn Golf Club, where they were running a golfing event for young people with disabilities. They had an amazing day, getting coaching from 2 tournament players, and then putting their skills to the test in a range of golf activities. They did amazingly well at representing our school. We could not have been more proud!

Monday 12 May 2025 Mental Health Awareness Week

Thursday 8 May 2025 VE Theme Day To mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War we held a special VE Theme Day. Pupils took part in a range of activities to learn about and experience a taste of that period in history, including; dancing to music from the 1940s, a black and white cinema, craft activities, an army obstacle course and making sandwiches for our ‘street party’ in the afternoon.

Thursday 1 May 2025 Electric Umbrella Electric Umbrella came to visit us for a Singing Workshop. The students had a magical afternoon singing and dancing along to the songs, as well as playing instruments and taking a lead with the microphone.

Thursday 3 April 2025 Easter Egg Hunt Pupils from all classes enjoyed an afternoon searching for Easter egg tokens on the playground, which they then exchanged for Easter eggs or bubbles!

Wednesday 2 April 2025 Spring Performance This year’s Spring Performance ‘The Magic of Books' celebrated our pupil's love of reading and enjoyment of stories.

Wednesday 26 March 2025 Easter Market Some of our students from Upper school worked on a stall at the St Albans Market selling items which they had made in their enterprise lessons, along with some yummy tray bakes and cupcakes which they baked in our Nourish to Flourish Café. The students got an opportunity to handle money and learn about selling items and also to practise their social skills by greeting customers. They made an amazing £284!

Thursday 13 March 2025 County Dance Show - Alban Arena On 13th March, we took part in the County Dance Show at the Alban Arena.

Wednesday 12 March 2025 Lower / Middle School Trip Pupils from Lower / Middle School enjoyed a fantastic day at Mead Open Farm. They had the chance to groom ponies, pet rabbits, explore the outdoor playground and soft play areas and especially enjoyed jumping on the inflatable pillows!

Thursday 6 March 2025 Literacy Week & World Book Day The students have thrown themselves into Literacy Week activities!

Wednesday 5 March 2025 Upper School Residential - Spring Last week, some of the students in Upper School went on a residential visit and stayed in the Sheringham Youth Hostel, Norfolk .

Friday 20 December 2024 Christmas carols The whole school enjoyed a trip to St Bartholomew's church where we sang Christmas carols and some pupils and staff even danced along to their favourite festive songs!

Thursday 19 December 2024 Christmas Show Watling View pupils put on a wonderful performance of it’s own Christmas Nativity. Yet again it truly was a highlight of the school calendar, well done to all of our talented pupils and supportive staff!

Thursday 5 December 2024 Dressing the Xmas Tree Lower Middle School kicked off the Christmas festivities by decorating the Christmas tree in the hall, using baubles and handmade decorations. They were accompanied by a fabulous brass band from St Columbus, and thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Christmas music.

Wednesday 4 December 2024 Bubble Experience- EYFS Early Years had a great time during their bubble experience. They particularly liked being inside the bubbles.

Friday 22 November 2024 Shakespeare for Schools On Monday 11th November, some of the pupils from Upper School went to The Grove Theatre in Dunstable to perform the Shakespeare play 'The Merchant of Venice'.

Friday 22 November 2024 Road Safety Week

Thursday 14 November 2024 Remembrance Day Upper School and Lower Middle School held department assemblies acknowledging Remembrance Day. Each department made their own poppies, held a 2 minute silence and welcomed Jack, a student from St Columbus School, who played the bugle to recognise the event.

Friday 8 November 2024 STEM Theme Day Pupils had a fantastic STEM (science, maths engineering and technology) day! It was a brilliant day where pupils had lots of fun, learnt new concepts and created memorable learning experiences with their peers.

Thursday 24 October 2024 Thank you from the St Albans & District Foodbank We'd like to thank everyone from Watling View School for supporting us this Harvest. Your generous donation of 105.5kg alone will allow us to provide 251 meals for people and families in need and we are incredibly grateful for your contribution. We can't do what we do and continue to help so many without the support we receive from organisations such as yours - so thank you for your continued support.

Tuesday 22 October 2024 Careers Theme Day It was lovely to see the pupils come in dressed up as a job someone special does. They took part in various activities in class to learn about different jobs related to people who help us. In the hall there was a careers fair and pupils got to learn about being a builder, hairdresser and café worker. They styled hair on dolls heads, dressed up as builders and used the bricks to construct things, explored different smells from a café and practised being a cashier using the till. In the afternoon we had a visit from the fire service who brought the fire engine onto the playground. They showed us the different equipment on the fire engine and some pupils got to have fun spraying water from the hose.

Tuesday 15 October 2024 Snow White Performance Pupils had a wonderful time watching a performance of Snow White on Tuesday 15th October. There was lots of laughter throughout & pupils really enjoyed clapping along to the music. At the end of the performance, pupils were then invited up to the front to dance with their friends!

Thursday 10 October 2024 Harvest Festival We all had a great time celebrating Harvest Festival this year!

Monday 23 September 2024 McMillan Coffee Morning We held our McMillan Coffee Morning on Monday 23rd September, where some of our Upper School pupils enjoyed serving cakes to their peers in the school gym.

Thursday 18 July 2024 Celebration Days On Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th July we held our Celebration Days in school. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who were able to join us in celebrating.

Thursday 4 July 2024 Year 14 Leavers Ceremony On Thursday 14th July, we celebrated our leavers: Rosie, Francesco, James, Jessie, Elliott, Beth, David & Sam.

Thursday 4 July 2024 Wimbledon Trip Pupils had a fabulous time at Wimbledon, we got to watch a couple of games on court - 2 Fils vs Hurkacz and Monfils vs Wawrinka. Both were great games! We had a lovely walk around the grounds up to Court 1 and enjoyed eating some strawberries and cream. All the students really enjoyed themselves!

Wednesday 3 July 2024 Whole School Trip to Thomley The whole school went on a trip to Thomley! There was a rotation of exciting activities which catered for all, including: bouncing on the jumping pillow, using the zip wire, exploring the lights in the sensory room, climbing in soft play, relaxing in the teenage den, playing football and more! It was a hot day filled with lots of fun and smiles.

Monday 1 July 2024 Olympics Week This week pupils have been taking part in a school wide special event called Watling View Olympics Week. Each class is representing a country for the week, and different pupils have been sent to participate in different sports throughout the week to represent their country. We’ve had an action packed schedule of events including running, cycling, swimming, trampoline, climbing, curling, boccia, yoga, skittles, triathlon, weightlifting and basketball. There are more events to come, and we’re building up a medal ceremony on Friday to celebrate pupil achievements!

Monday 24 June 2024 Theatre Performance On Monday the students enjoyed a fantastic performance of The Selfish Giant. Some of the students even got to participate in the show. We would like to say a massive thank you to Happy Days charity who funded this for us! The children had a fantastic time watching and taking part in the show!

Thursday 20 June 2024 Eid Theme Day On Tuesday 18th June we held an Eid al-Adha Theme Day. Pupils attended assemblies to learn about the festival, then enjoyed Eid themed activities during the morning, including Henna tattoos. In the afternoon we had a whole school party in the playground, with music, dancing and food. Lots of fun was had by all!

Tuesday 11 June 2024 Sport Experience Day A group of pupils from Lower / Middle School enjoyed a trip to experience a number of different sporting activities thanks to the President's Sports Club. The group enjoyed tennis, basketball, boccia a trip on a train and the bouncy castle.

Tuesday 11 June 2024 Upper School Residential Students from Upper school went on a residential trip for two nights to Skeet House in Kent.

Friday 7 June 2024 Lower / Middle School Boat Trip A group of 25 pupils from Lower / Middle School experienced a canal boat trip thanks to Waterways. The pupils enjoyed going on the canal, taking turns to drive the canal boat and open and close locks. As well as this the pupils enjoyed commenting about what they saw using their communication boards.

Sunday 19 May 2024 Basketball Playoff Finals at the O2 Arena On Sunday 19th May a group of pupils visited the O2 Arena in London to watch the Basketball Playoff final. We saw London Lions beat Cheshire Phoenix in a very close game. All the pupils really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Thursday 16 May 2024 Sports Day On Thursday 16th May we held our annual sports day. Although it was a damp start to the day the sun did come out a little bit as the morning went on. All pupils enjoyed moving around the different stations demonstrating their ability to complete a variety of sporting activities throughout the morning. It was wonderful to be joined by so many families for the morning and picnic. A big thank you to the sports leaders from Samuel Ryder who supported the event as well.
