What is Forest School?

Forest School is not just going to the woods (although that’s a very important part of it!) It’s a holistic learning approach in which every student is viewed as:

competent to explore & discover
entitled to experience appropriate risk and challenge
entitled to choose, and to initiate and drive their own learning and development
entitled to experience regular success
entitled to develop positive relationships with themselves and other people
entitled to develop a strong, positive relationship with their natural world

At Forest School we aim to be learner centred, encouraging independence and following the interests and creativity of our students as they explore and discover the amazing sensory experiences that occur daily in nature and are constantly changing with the weather and the seasons.
