  • Watling View - Centre of Excellence in Financial Education

    Fri 30 Nov 2018

    Watling View has been awarded the centre of excellence status in financial education from young money. Pupils have been working hard on developing their money skills across the curriculum and this has been recognised by Young Money who in their feedback recognised:

    • The importance of financial education at Watling View.

    • Children receive rich and varied learning and is evidenced through real-life and applied learning.

    • That an impressive sample of evidence was submitted and it shows financial education being taught throughout the school and has a firm place in the planning for all children.

  • Shakespeare in Schools

    Tue 20 Nov 2018

    We happily took part in Shakespeare for school’s performance of “A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream” at the Abbey Theatre. Everyone performed with great enthusiasm and professionalism.

    The regional co-ordinator at Shakespeare for Schools wrote;

    "You worked brilliantly together, supporting each other on stage.  You were committed to every action you performed and had great energy!  It was a heartwarming and wonderful performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream from an inspiring and enthusiastic cast."

    Well done to all involved!

Amongst the items on sale are Christmas decorations, bird boxes, scented candles and festive potted plants.
  • Remembrance Day

    Fri 09 Nov 2018

    On Friday 9th November the whole school celebrated Remembrance Day. We had a theme day with each class visiting various workshops to learn more about Remembrance Day and World War 1. We had our photos taken in front of a Poppy field backdrop painted beautifully by Art Club. We took cover when we heard the sirens and experienced life inside an air raid shelter whilst we waited for the all clear.  We formed a marching band and played instruments and sang along to World War 1 songs including 'Pack up your troubles'. In the Hydrotherapy pool we explored our senses with a Poppy themed extravaganza. We made Poppy biscuits and read poetry in the Food Technology room.

    Throughout the course of the day we built our 'Remembrance Wall' by attaching memories of those special to us on each brick. In the morning we had a whole school assembly and were joined by Sam, a bugle player from St Columbus School who kindly played 'The Last Post' for us to introduce and close our 2 minutes silence at 11 o'clock.
