Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We all enjoyed a very sunny and busy Sports Morning on Wednesday 22nd May. Lots of fun was had by all, enjoying such activities as basketball, running and parachute games. It was lovely to see so many parents come along and join in with the event.
Christopher, Thomas, David, Annie and Casper went to watch the Basketball Play-off finals at the O2 on Sunday 19th May 2019. First of all we watched the Women's, where Sevenoaks Suns beat the Leicester Riders in a very closely contested game. Then we watched the men's where Leicester Riders beat London City Royals with a good 20 points to spare. It was a fantastic day out and the students really enjoyed watching a different sport and enjoying all the entertainment.
We had a great team of volunteers from Pitney Bowes, who came to help us for a day. Their cheerfulness and enthusiasm once again transformed the school as they painted, swept, weeded, tidied, plumbed an irrigation system for a raised flower bed, dug out bushes and built a new shed. We really appreciate the difference they made and enjoyed having so many new friendly faces in the school.
James's Tuesday morning work related learning group put on a car wash for staff. They helped promote it by making posters around school.
As well as helping to decide on price and what equipment we would need, we all helped to wash the cars!
This was an opportunity for parents and carers to visit the beautiful woodland we use for our Forest School sessions and to find out more about why we take our students to the woods and what we get up to whilst we’re there!
Everyone enjoyed tea, coffee and a chat around the camp fire, then there was time to explore the woods and enjoy the sensory experience of being alone outdoors in a natural environment. We put our trust in each other with a blindfold sensory nature game, then discussed the Forest School approach to learning, dynamic risk assessment and the practicalities and safety aspects of taking children and young people with additional needs to the woods.
Thank you to all the parents who came and took part so enthusiastically in our first Forest School workshop
On Saturday the 4th May 2019 students including Annie, Christopher, David, Valeria, Francesco, Casper, Thomas and William went to Wembley to watch the Women's FA Final. We cheered for both Manchester City and West Ham, very loudly and enthusiastically. The students enjoyed eating Fish and Chips and dancing along to the music as well as the odd goal. The Final score was 3-0 to Manchester City, not that it made a difference as a fantastic time was had by all!
On Thursday the 2nd May 2019, Annie, Christopher, David, Valeria, Daniel, Zahra, Liam and Andrei went to the Harvesters Football Club to take part in the SLD Football Festival. All of the students had a fantastic day and enjoyed learning new skills and meeting students from the other schools. We came 5th, but this does not reflect the amazing skills shown by our students on the day.
