  • Christmas Panto

    Thu 20 Dec 2018

On Monday 17th December, Sunflowers, Bluebells, Tulips, Daffodils and Poppies went to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Panto at Harpenden Public Halls.

There was lots of singing and dancing for us to enjoy as well as mesmerising light shows around the theatre. Some of us even joined in with the shout-outs of 'He's behind you!"

We all had our snack in the theatre and got an ice cream or fruit lolly during the interval. It was a long show but was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

  • Christmas Theme Day

    Tue 04 Dec 2018

On the 4th December the whole school joined in for a special Christmas curriculum theme Day-Santa’s Workshop.

There were a number of activities for our pupils to enjoy:

The creative arts room was transformed to bring to life the story of “The Grinch That Stole Christmas”. Classes enjoyed inhabiting the role of different characters and responding to the rhythm and rhyme of the language used in the story.

Flo ran a session in the sensory garden cutting down wood and small logs to construct decorative reindeer figures, some of which were sold at St Albans market the following day. Pupils especially enjoyed toasting marshmallows over the fire using wood they had chopped up.

In the gym various classes enjoyed a number of Christmas party games including musical statues, musical chairs and musical bumps.

In the library we had professional violin player Miles Golding join us on some Christmas music workshops.  Miles played an interactive concert including some of his favourite pieces and Christmas songs, all with the help of his fantastic audience.

Classes also joined in with some Christmas themed cooking activities in the food technology room.  Pupils enjoyed making reindeer cupcakes as well as decorating some festive gingerbread men.
