Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Thursday the whole school walked up to St Bartholomew's Church on Vesta Avenue for a festive carol service. The service was led by our infamous Watling View Band of Scott, James and Miral. Students played instruments, danced and sang along to the carols.
To round off this term's topic of 'Performance and Entertainment' we had 'Watling View's Got Talent' on Thursday in the hall. Students from throughout the school showed off their hidden talents; including singing, dancing and even juggling! A big thank you to all our performers!
Some Upper School students were very helpful in the St Alban's branch of Marks and Spencer's supporting customers with their bag packing over the last few weeks. The students appeared to really enjoy themselves and they raised an amazing £400!!
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week our hall was transformed into the Grinch's Christmas Banquet Room. Students, staff, Governors and volunteers who have supported us this year all came together to enjoy their Christmas lunch and to pull a cracker with a friend. Thank you to Karen and Shana for cooking up a lovely feast for us all.
Upper School went to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park for their Christmas trip. After being given a police escort into Winter Wonderland we all enjoyed walking around and seeing the sights before going into the Big Top to watch Zippo's Circus. We saw some fantastic acts including trapeze artists, roller-skating gymnasts and unicyclists. A great day!
A magical Santa's Grotto popped up at Watling View on Thursday along with stalls selling a range of goods. We run activities for students and families to have a go at, including Snowman Bowling. It was lovely to see so many families and friends come to visit our Christmas Fair.
As part of our Arts Award and Work Related Learning curriculum Upper School have created beautiful crafts to be sold at St Albans Market. We made an incredible amount of over £120 on the market stall in December and are already thinking of ideas for our next stall.
Buttercups and Daisies went to Springtime Nurseries in Crews Hill for their Christmas Trip. They all enjoyed a ride on the Christmas Train to reach Santa's Grotto. Each child met him in turn and then went to his workshop to choose a present each too. They also enjoyed the Christmas lights, decorations and meeting real reindeer. A lovely morning was had by all!!
Our theme day was inspired by Clement Clarke Moore's 'Twas the Night before Christmas.
Our pupils experienced lots of wonderful activities by means of five different workshops:
We also held a rehearsal for our forthcoming show on Friday 13th December. We look forward to seeing you there!
