Well done to all the pupils who took part in the county dance festival. A group of 6 Watling View pupils took part in the county dance festival alongside a group of pupils from St Albans Girls School. The group of pupils have been rehearsing over many weeks and this culminated in a wonderful and colourful performance at the Alban Arena.

  • International Women's Day

    Wed 08 Mar 2023

Pupils had an incredible International Women's Day where they participated in a range of activities inspired by inspirational women across the world.

The day started with an informative assembly including a fun dance along.  Pupils then visited our new on-site cafe 'Nourish to Flourish', run by our inspirational Bouchra, to buy a treat from the tuck shop or participate in a multi-sensory experience. Many pupils were patiently waiting for their turn to visit the 'Mary Berry's cheesecake' workshop with the inspirational Emily, where they developed their communication skills choosing their toppings. Classes practiced their gymnastic skills in the gym, with the inspirational Sally, for the 'Simone Biles gymnastics workshop.' Classes also enjoyed an Attention Autism Bucket inspired by the famous polka dot artist Yayoi Kusama. Lastly, we were blown away by pupils' responses to the 'Bindi Irwin animal meet and greet' where pupils looked at, stroked and held many animals including bearded dragons, bunnies, snails, lizards and Davina the snake! The pupils were so calm, intrigued and gentle with the animals. It was a truly memorable experience for pupils.

    Happy International Women's Day 2023!

  • World Book Day

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

The theme at Watling View for World Book Day this year was 'Roald Dahl'. We all enjoyed dressing up as our favourite character or item from a Roald Dahl book. We had some Golden Tickets, Miss Trunchbulls, Matilda's and even a few Charlie's from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Some students enjoyed a multi-sensory story based on the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The students were immersed in a range of sensory experiences which included feeling lots of rain, the smell of chocolate and experiencing different sounds based on the book. Other workshops that took place throughout the day were a music workshop, based on The Witches and creating potions, a movement workshop based on Matilda and another Charlie and the Chocolate Factory based experience in the sensory garden.
