We are excited to have opened our cafe Nourish to Flourish. The cafe has been designed so that pupils can transfer the learning that has happened in the school and apply this  in to a real life work environment. Please look at some of the pictures and videos to see how this has happened. 

Pupils in the cafe are applying skills such as cooking, baking, cleaning, washing up, loading and unloading dishwashers, making drinks, safety in the kitchen / workplace, handling money, social communication with customers and using structured visual systems to understand what they need to do in each of the different roles within the cafe. 

When in the cafe learning is tailored to each individual so that they are able to work on their PLG targets. 

We are excited to have built a new cafe learning environment at Watling View. The pupils in the Upper School are using this as a work experience opportunity and engaging in learning in a way which links with their Individual Destination Pathway and long term aspirations. 

Our Cafe lead Bouchra has been working hard to make sure this is a fantastic learning environment and something which we are going to be looking forward to welcoming visitors too in the near future.

Once a week pupils in the Upper School run the school cafe. This is an opportunity for pupils to apply skills and knowledge they have learnt throughout the school and apply it in a vocational based approach to learning. Pupils have the opportunity to use their communication skills to take orders, implement their cooking and life skills by preparing the food / toasties ready for the lunch time. They then take money for the items and exchange this for the food items. The impact of the cafe has meant that Watling View are going to further develop and enhance this area of the curriculum during the 2022 - 2023 academic year.
