Forest School

Adventurer's went on a treasure hunt through the woods and hunted for some toy woodland animals, which then became part of some fantastic imaginative play. Nathan was very keen to hear the woodpeckers and took some friends on a walk to listen out for them and the other birds. Chetan enjoyed hearing the birds too and whistled back to them whilst swinging in a hammock under the trees. Some students tried out the new rope ladder and had fun on the swing. Then we collected sticks for the camp fire and cooked some toasted cheese wraps.

Sunflowers were delighted to be back in the woods. They chilled out in the hammocks, went for walks and had a great game of hide and seek with some students and staff pretending to be 'the wild things' from the story 'Where the Wild Things Are'. Dylan tried out some sawing and Dee Dee worked safely with a saw, loppers and secateurs for almost the whole time he was in the woods. He was helping to cut some Hazel trees down to their bases (these trees are being coppiced - a traditional system of woodland management).
